60 years of AHK Indien
The AHK Indien or the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1956. Today, we are with over 6700 members the largest AHK and the largest Chamber of Commerce in India. We have built up a strong local presence with our head-office in Mumbai, branch offices in Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Pune and a liaison office in Düsseldorf (Germany). As the primary contact for Indian and German companies who want to start doing business with the respective other country, we enhance the bilateral economic relations between India and Germany.
As a highly regarded and respected institution in India and Germany, with its qualified team and above all its innumerable contacts and connections, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce has played a major role in advancing corporate as well as cultural understanding between India and Germany for 60 years.
Operating under the DEinternational brand, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce is a professional service business with worldwide connections. With its team of bi-lingual advisers, most of whom have several years experience, the Chamber offers support in market entry matters, HR recruitment, legal advice, event management, trade fair management and translations. As a non-profit organisation, we do not serve our own interests, and our fees are calculated on a cost-recovery basis.
The Chamber is traditionally a members’ association. About 6700 Indian and German members come together on the basis of a voluntary membership to create a unique and exclusive network to promote the exchange of information and experience, and to make business contacts. Mostly working in close cooperation with other European chambers, we also pursue the interests of our members on matters of importance to the business community in India.
Committee and Councils
The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce is governed by a Committeecomprising 20 elected Indian and German members, who are leading industrialists and CEOs of German and Indo-German companies. The office bearers of the Chamber are the President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Director General. In order to maintain strict neutrality, there is an equal representation of German and Indian nationals on the Committee. An Indian and a German member is elected President in rotation.
The northern, southern, western and eastern regions have their ownRegional Councils consisting of regional council members and headed by a Chairman.
